Congratulations. I think you have really good ideas on the situations that face many "seniors" of Long Island, myself included. I especially like the fact that not only do you perceive this to be a local issue but a nationwide challenge as well. AARP does its part -- and although this seems to be a David vs. Goliath scenario, it never hurts to know that there is another concerned group such as AMAC that is willing to take that one extra step and look beyond what we are currently dealing with. Keep up the good work and keep looking forward, because we seniors are going to be here for a long time.

Dear Dan Weber

I can not begin to tell you how much I appreciate AMAC’s recent involvement as an advocacy group in aiding me with my ongoing battle with the Town of Islip, to offer its Tax Exemptions at higher income level limits to keep pace with inflation for its seniors and disabled on a Limited Income. After six months of lobbying and seemingly endless meetings and letters to town councilmen, the town assessor and the town supervisor, I can honestly say AMAC’s involvement will make the town realize there are large numbers behind this organization and they simply can not be ignored that easily.

I also would like to sincerely thank your associates Rebecca Keiffert and Gary Christiansen for there support. Especially Gary, for taking his valuable time to appear before the Islip Town board and giving an outstanding representation. When he addressed the town board he had gathered even more information than I already had and was well educated in the issues at hand.

I strongly feel that AMAC will be a great benefit for all those in future need of an advocacy group because of its strength in numbers, whether its taxes, insurance, or health issues. I would like to wish you and your organization much success with all of your future goals and endeavors, and I thank you and AMAC once again for your involvement.

Sincerely Yours,
Louis Daino

I and others are concerned about the huge rent (maintenance fees) that mobile home parks are charging us seniors every year. I moved into my park in 1992 and was paying $311. Now I'm paying $714.00 a month. Unbelievable. I can't afford to live in a 12 X60 metal box. What am I to do?

WHEN WILL THE SENIORS OF SUFFOLK COUNTY GET THE SAME TREATMENT AS THOSE OF NEW YORK CITYAND NASSAU! WE MUST PAY FOR SUPPLEMENTARY INSURANCE WHILE THEY HAVE NO PREMIUM. THIS IS A GROSS INJUSTIC TO US.
